Painter's house, Homerton, London
When a painter and a band manager bought this house it already had a very nice feel to it. They wanted to retain the quality of a beautiful south facing Victorian terrace and add some more generosity and light to the kitchen by building a side return with a glass roof and small utility room.
Besides they wanted to add space like a small workspace where the manager could work focused away from the lively family, a second bathroom and a calm and serene bedroom in the loft with a Juliete door towards the garden.
As they wanted to undertake the works as soon as possible Ben Kuenzel Architecture designed the loft conversion as a permitted development while getting approval via neighbour consultation scheme for the ground floor extension. During the stage of approval all detailing was finalised. The loft conversion was completed with its approval by the council and the contractor continued working on the ground floor. Besides choosing tiles, kitchen, flooring the painter also choose the colours for the walls of the rooms to give them am a personal touch.
